Adventist Health Reedley is a 49-bed acute-care hospital with emergency, laboratory, medical imaging services and a Birth Center with all private rooms and a family-centered environment. Our hospital offers the expertise and resources of a large healthcare system combined with the personal care of a home-town hospital.

All surgeries and deliveries are done at the hospital campus in Reedley. For GYN surgeries, there is dedicated block time for all OBGYNS at our Reedley & Selma hospital (10 miles away). Our team averages 2-4 surgeries a week and use both hospitals for their surgeries, with most of the big GYN surgeries being done at Selma. Neither location has Da Vinci Robots, and there are no plans to get one in the future. Our organization is very adaptive to each physician’s needs, according to Dr. White “Adventist will get you whatever you need to have a successful practice”.

In 2017, we averaged about 130 deliveries per month, 4-5 per day, between the in-house OBGYNS (Dr. White, Dr. Dominguez, Dr. Lofquist & Dr. Mayhew), the FP residents and Dr. Cano, our private practice OBGYN. This is a number than can easily be increased by 20-30%, once we have all 5 OBGYN’s in place. Our C-Section rate is around 14%.

Our birthing center facilities include:
• 12 Postpartum Rooms
• 8 L&D Suites
• 2 Surgical Suites, dedicated to C-Section & GYN surgeries
• 1 Staff Sleep Room

The Delivery process:
When it is time for the delivery, you have a great support staff ready to assist. We try to give the patients the most amount of privacy possible, so all 8 Labor & Delivery suites are set up with an external enclave for washing of hands, checking notes and conversations between physicians and staff.

We have anesthesia on-site 24/7, this is a contracted group of CRNA’s with one main attending, and 1 back-up that stays across the street from the hospital. So, if there is ever a situation where emergency C-Section is needed, staff can call the back-up, who can be in the birthing center in minutes to provide anesthesia.

We also have a pediatrician or Family Medicine resident attending every birth. This is by choice of the Pediatric group, who feel it is in the best interest of the child to be there from first breath. For any deliveries that require an MFM, we have a great relationship with the team at UCSF- Fresno. They are about 20 minutes away, but are always available via phone consult. There is also a great Children’s Hospital 30-45 Minutes Away, called Valley Children’s Hospital, which is in North Fresno but also has a presence at our combined facility in Fowler.

Call:

The current call schedule is 1:4, with each provider taking night call one night per week and one weekend per month. The call starts at 5pm, and goes till 8am the next morning. Weekend call would be Friday from 5pm – Monday at 8am, and if needed you can have a post call day off. You are only required to take call at the Hospital in Reedley, so the overall call burden is pretty small.

The hospital averages 4-5 deliveries a day, and only 1-2 of those are done after hours. You will be compensated $800 for each night you are on call regardless if you go in or not, so that adds an additional $60K to your yearly take home.
