- Location: Southern California
- Duration: February – June 2025 (potential for extension)
- Schedule: 1-2 weeks per month
- Shift: Monday 7 AM – Monday 7 AM
- Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM: On-site to admit to NICU
- Saturday – Sunday: Round on patients, sign out to Pediatric Hospitalist around noon
- Call: 24-hour call coverage
- Patient Volume: 8-bed NICU, 80-100 deliveries per month
- Scope:
- Daytime: NICU rounds, neonatal/prenatal consults, high-risk deliveries
- Evening/Night: Take calls from home; neonatologists come in for complex cases, while straightforward NICU admissions are handled by Pediatric Hospitalists
- After-Hours Call Reasons: Pre-term delivery (<34 weeks), multiple births (30%, stabilization for transport
- EMR: Epic
- Hospital: 8-bed NICU Level II, 463 general beds
- Support Team: 7 Pediatric Hospitalists, 2 FTE Neonatologists, with 24/7 in-house Pediatric Hospitalist coverage, transition nurse, and respiratory therapist
Requirements: Board certified (or eligible if recently trained), California license, CA DEA, and COVID vaccine.
